About Us.
Summary of why we exist
Home of Love (HOL) is a community-based non-profit organisation established in August 2018 by professional social workers in response to the growing social and health vulnerabilities affecting disadvantaged communities in the uMgungundlovu District. Registered under the NPO Act 71 of 1997 (Reg. No. 213-760), HOL works primarily with children, adolescents and young people (AYP), and women who experience multiple socio-economic challenges including poverty, limited access to services, abuse, and gender-based violence.
HOL implements integrated community development programmes that promote health literacy, psychosocial wellbeing, and life skills development among vulnerable populations. Our interventions focus on HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, substance use awareness, and human rights education. These programmes aim to improve knowledge, reduce stigma and discrimination, and encourage positive health-seeking behaviours. In doing so, HOL contributes to strengthening community health outcomes and improving access to essential services in line with the priorities of the National Strategic Plan for HIV, TB and STIs 2023–2028.
In addition to prevention and awareness programmes, HOL provides psychosocial support services including individual, couple and family counselling, structured support groups, and referral pathways to health and social services. Through collaboration with local clinics, social development departments, and civil society partners, HOL strengthens community-based support systems and improves coordination of care for individuals experiencing multiple vulnerabilities. To address the socio-economic drivers of health risks and violence, HOL also implements economic strengthening initiatives that equip women and young people with entrepreneurial and livelihood skills. These programmes aim to promote self-reliance, reduce poverty-related vulnerability, and support sustainable community development. Through community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and skills-building initiatives, HOL promotes inclusive participation, strengthens community resilience, and contributes to healthier and more empowered communities.
We empower children and youth by providing support systems that nurture growth, confidence, education, and emotional well-being. We aim to strengthen communities by creating safe spaces where every child feels valued and supported.
